Nepal Trekking Information

Who should trek?
As also mentioned above, trekking in Nepal is for active people in good health who enjoy adventurous hiking, with steep hills and deep river valleys, as there is very little level walking in Nepal. Trekkers should be fit and healthy and enjoy walking and have done some hill training for treks up to medium standard. We expect participants to be strong, experienced hikers in good physical condition for treks above medium standard.

Prepare ourselves
Porters will carry gear and supplies, leaving guests free to carry only a daypack. No technical climbing or other special abilities are required, however, each person should be equipped with a "spirit of adventure" and a willingness to undergo the potential hardships of outdoor living and long days on the trail.

What should you consider before trekking?
Treks can spend considerable time at altitudes between 350m. And 5000m. Most trails themselves are only moderate, but at these altitudes hiking can feel more strenuous. Please consult your doctor before booking to confirm your general heath.

Interesting facts

Why should you choose to trek in Nepal?
Nepal is a landlocked nation nestling in the laps of the Himalayas between China and India.

It is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of bio diversity due to its unique geographical position and altitudinal variation. The elevation of the country ranges from 60 metres above sea level in the Terai to the highest point on earth, Mt. Everest, at 8,848 metres.

It is a small country but there is a great range of geographical diversity in flora and fauna, and a variety of ethnic groups and colourful festivals. Nepalese culture has been called 'the way of life for an entire society’. Nepal is the trekker’s paradise; it offers the most spectacular mountain scenery with more than a dozen of the world’s highest mountains.

The incomparable natural beauty, the warmth and hospitality of the Nepalese people and their interesting history and culture always beckon you to visit Nepal time and again.

Type of trekking operated in Nepal

1. Tea House Trekking

Teahouse Trekking is the most popular, staying in family run guesthouses. It is often the trek of choice in the well developed tourist regions including Annapurna circuit, Annapurna Base camp, Everest Base camp, Gokyo valley, Langtang – Helambu and Tamang heritage as well as for other Jungle Safari, and river rafting adventure, where western and Nepalese food is available.

Accommodation with common bathrooms with hot and cold showers are available in most of the teahouses. Teahouse trekking is comparatively cheaper than camping, and is suitable for both small and large groups. On a teahouse trek, an Anchor Nepal Trek licensed tourism guide, with assistant and porters will accompany you. You will be provided with three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner and overnight accommodation.

Note:

Your days’ trekking will normally start at 7am after breakfast and will stop for lunch at midday on the trail. After lunch, we will continue our trek. Normal trekking times will be between 5 and 8 hours each day unless otherwise stated.

2. Organized Camping Trek

Camping treks are popular for ‘off the beaten track’ and ‘mountain climbing expeditions’

Treks are fully organised by Adventure Himalayan Treks' Team guides and support staff and will include a cook and porters to carry all camping equipment, food, fuel, and personal belongings. At the campsite, sleeping, dining and toilet tents will be provided, also mattresses and sleeping bags, Every morning there will be a bowl of warm water for washing and a cup of hot tea. After breakfast we will start our days’ trek. A relaxing lunch is taken about midday, and a typical day's hike usually ends in the early afternoon. Your campsite will be waiting to greet you at the end of your days’ trek.

Note:

The days trek begins around 7.30 am Trekkers should carry a day sack for their days trekking needs. Including, water bottle, any medication, waterproofs, camera, etc.

Everest View

Ron Vederman

It was a genuine pleasure working with Raj in 2007 when I treked to Namche Bazaar, Nepal. My flight into Kathmandu arrived after midnight and he was there to greet me and then settled me into the accommodations. We departed very early the next morning to Lukla and again, Raj was there to get me to the airport and onto our flight without a hitch. The next 3+ days trekking was fantastic thanks to Raj\'s preparation by knowing which lodges we were staying in, arranging all the meals, fees for Everest and so forth. When I became a bit fatigued at times, Raj willingly carried my pack. The all-important photo opp with Everest was strategically managed to be early in the morning before cloud cover obscured the summit from view. To this day, this trip will ranks as one of my all-ime favorites. Photos from that experience decorate my office & home. Thank you, Raj Ron
